CAIRO – 10 January 2022: Spokesperson for the European Union for the Middle East and North Africa Luis Miguel Bueno said that the World Youth Forum in its fourth edition, is a rare opportunity to enhance the role of young people in society.

“We must not forget that the future of the world is in the youths hands, and that they can address urgent issues through their participation in wide-ranging discussions, whether it is about the implications of climate change, global pandemics, counter-terrorism, the multilateral trading system, the ethics of youth employment, international finance and other issues,” he added in a press statement.

Bueno stressed that they, in the European Union, are closely following these events, especially the discussions on climate change, after the climate summit in Glasgow, where the European Union contributed significantly to the international efforts to address this issue.

Bueno further added: We look forward to the forum's recommendations on the issue of climate change, which will benefit the joint work between the European Union and Egypt in the upcoming COP27 climate summit, which Egypt will host.

The forum is held under the slogan of ‘Back Together’, with the participation of young people from 196 countries in Sharm El-Sheikh. WYF activities are expected to take place until January 13.
