CAIRO – 8 January 2022: The idea of the Abrahamic Religion is “categorically unacceptable,” Pope Tawadros II told the Egyptian T.V. on Friday.

He said the word “invention” should not be used for religions, adding that religions are “like colors, cannot be changed or replaced by innovation or adding false information to the constants of a given religion.”

The Pope added that the Abrahamic Religion is “an opposite” of the three monotheistic religions.

He continued that the Abrahamic Religion is a political idea, rather than a religious one, and that it aims to destroy the constants of religions, whether it is Islam, Christianity, or Judaism.

Sheikh Ahmed al-Tayeb, the head of Al-Azhar, voiced similar ideas against the Abrahamic Religion in November.

During the celebration of the tenth anniversary of the Egyptian Family House, an initiative that strives to spread religious tolerance and human rights, al-Tayeb said it is impossible for all humans to agree on just one religion, that is why freedom of religion is “one of the most precious human rights.”

Sheikh al-Tayeb also noted that the fraternity of Islam and Christianity to preserve the right of the Egyptian citizen to live in security, peace and stability, is one thing, but to merge the two religions is another, Sheikh al-Tayeb said, referring to the so-called “Abrahamic religion” that some new outlets have claimed is emerging to make one religion of Judaism, Christianity, and Islam.
