CAIRO – 30 December 2021: The Egyptian Railway Authority will receive a new batch of new air-conditioned Russian vehicles in mid-January 2022

The Railways Authority will receive in mid-January 2022 a batch of new air-conditioned vehicles contracted as part of the 1,300-car deal, which is manufactured by Transmash Holding, the representative of the Russian-Hungarian alliance.

Worth one billion, 16 million and 50 thousand Euros, the deal is to manufacture and supply the Egyptian railway system with 1,300 train vehicles.

The new vehicles are third-class vehicles with dynamic ventilation, and will operate on the main lines.

The deal includes 800 air-conditioned cars and 500 third class cars with dynamic ventilation.

Egypt has started receiving new train vehicles as part of a plan to renovate its train fleet. The deal is meant to raise the efficiency of daily operation and regularity of operating schedules, aiming to improve the service provided for passengers.
