CAIRO - 25 December 2021: Egyptian authorities, throughout its embassy in Italy, are following up on the investigation into killing an Egyptian citizen in Rome, a diplomat told Al-Masry Al-Youm newspaper on Saturday.

The Egyptian citizen was found buried in an apartment in one of Rome’s neighborhoods. The Italian authorities said that the citizen, who was killed several days ago, was handcuffed and his feet were tied, adding that the dead body has traces of suffocation.

The diplomat added that the Egyptian embassy in Rome is finalizing all procedures to deport the dead body to Egypt.

Two members of the Egyptian community in Italy told to Al Arabiya Net that the citizen was called Galal Muhammad Imad Abul-Matouh, born in 1973 in the Gharbia Governorate, north of Cairo, and he lives with his brother and two others in his apartment in Rome.

They added that the citizen had disappeared since December 12, until the authorities found his dead body in an apartment near the apartment where he was staying.

He had worked in Italy for ten years to work with his brother in Rome, leaving his own family - a wife and three children- living in Egypt.
