CAIRO- 13 December 2021:  Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry is heading for Cyprus this evening, Monday, to discuss the bilateral relations, at the invitation of his Cypriot counterpart, Nikos Christodoulides, announced the Egyptian Foreign Ministry in a statement on Monday.

The visit comes within the framework of the ongoing enhancement of bilateral relations, besides following up on the results of the meeting of the Egyptian-Cypriot Higher Committee for Cooperation, which was inaugurated in Cairo last September, the statement said.

On December 1, 2021, Shoukry received  a phone call from Cypriot Foreign Minister Nikos Christodoulides, in the framework of continuous consultations and close relations that bind the two friendly countries. During the phone call, Christodoulides invited Shoury to visit Cyprus.

Ministry of Foreign Affairs Spokesperson, Ambassador Ahmed Hafez, stated that the two Ministers discussed various aspects of bilateral cooperation and follow-up on the results of the Higher Governmental Committee between the two countries at the Presidential level, which was held for the first time in Cairo on September 4, 2021.

Ambassador Hafez added that the two Ministers discussed the latest developments regarding a number of regional and international issues of mutual concern.
