Joint Egyptian-Russian naval exercise “Friendship Bridge-4” kicks off in the Mediterranean

CAIRO – 6 December 2021: Joint Egyptian-Russian naval exercise “Friendship Bridge-4” kicked off, Monday days in the territorial waters of the Northern Fleet in the Mediterranean and expected to continue for several days.

This joint training comes as part of the distinguished relations between Egypt and Russia, with the aim of enhancing cooperation and exchanging experiences between the armed forces of both countries.

The training started with a reception ceremony for the Russian forces participating in the training at the Alexandria Naval Base in Ras El-Tin, in the presence of Lieutenant-General Ahmed Khaled Hassan Said, Commander of the Naval Forces, who delivered a speech in which he welcomed the Russian naval forces participating in the training, and stressed the importance of the joint exercise.

 

A number of Egyptian and Russian naval units and members of the naval special forces of both sides are participating in the training.

Both forces are expected to engage in several activities to hone their skills.

Earlie in October, Egyptian and Russian troops participated in the 'Protectors of Friendship 5' joint military drills.

The joint Egyptian-Russian military exercise went on with the participation of joint paratroopers at the special training field of the Egyptian Airborne Corps.

The paratroopers' drills included the deployment of troops, equipment and vehicles, and the exchange of experiences.

The exercise promoted strategic cooperation and expertise between the Egyptian Armed Forces and Russian counterparts, it also aimed at boosting strategic military cooperation between Egypt and Russia, is one in a series of joint military exercises by Egyptian Armed Forces and troops from several friendly countries with the objective of developing military capabilities and combat skills.
