CAIRO – 25 November 2021: A state of anticipation mixed with praise witnessed in the international media as the world awaits the major event of inauguration of the King’s Festivities Road in Luxor, wrongly known as “Rams Road” opening ceremony of the Rams Road.

With massive preparations are revealed by authorities, some observers expected tonight’s event will surpass its dazzlement the royal mummies parade that Egypt organized last year.

Tonight's celebration, which is scheduled to start at 7:30 p.m., will witness the revival of a historical corridor dating back more than 3,000 years, linking Luxor Temple with Karnak Temple, with a length of about 2,700 meters.

Hours before the start of the ceremony, the Spanish ambassador in Cairo, Ramón Gil-Casares, said that the opening of the new Rams Road in Luxor, or the Sphinx Road, “gives us a great opportunity to rediscover ancient Luxor at its best, and to get to know it anew.”

“I am sure that many Spaniards will enjoy the wonderful experience of walking on the same path that the Egyptians walked thousands of years ago,” the ambassador added.

Over the past few months, Luxor Governorate witnessed intensive development work to raise the efficiency of the infrastructure, develop and beautify the Corniche, its streets and squares.

The project restored the colonnaded hall in Karnak temples, developed lighting systems in Luxor Temple, and restored the 14-pillar hall in Luxor Temple.

Earlier, Dr. Zahi Hawass, the great archaeologist and Egyptologist said that the revival of Al-Kabash Road is a project that began in 2005 by a huge group of senior archaeologists in Egypt and more than 1,000 workers.
