CAIRO - 21 November 2021:  Heavy rainwater hit tombs in the northern Marsa Matrouh Governorate, washing away some dead bodies.

Remains of dead bodies in the Ghout Rabah cemetery, which are located two kilometers away from the Mediterranean city of Marsa Matrouh, floated up after water inundated the whole area of cemetery, Akhbar Al Your newspaper reported on Saturday.

A number of vacuum trucks were sent to the area of the Matrouh cemeteries, the newspaper reported Ibrahim Khaled, the head of the Drinking Water and Sanitation Company.

An anonymous security source told Sky News Arabia on Saturday that the authorities at the governorate, in cooperation with families, are working to address the situation and remove water from the area. Afterward, the cemetery would be restored and the remains will be re-shrouded and re-buried.

Many other governorates, including Alexandria, Alexandria, Qalyubia, Kafr El-Sheikh, Matrouh, and Menoufia witnessed unstable weather and heavy rains, which led to suspension of schools on Sunday.

The Egyptian Meteorological Authority (EMA) expects instability in weather conditions to ease by Sunday, while temperature is expected to drop in these areas.

Mild to moderate rainfall will also continue in northern coasts and northern Delta, according to the EMA expectations.

Ten days ago, Scorpions stung 453 citizens - killing three - living near the mountainous areas of Aswan as thundershowers hit the governorate pushing them to leave their nests, as reported by Al Ahram.
