In Pics: Prince Charles, Duchess Camilla attend reception party at Giza Pyramids

CAIRO – 18 November 2021: Prince Charles of Wales and Duchess Camilla of Cornwall attended a reception party, Thursday at the Giza Pyramids.

 

The reception was attended by number of top state officials, diplomates, and public figures.

Prince Charles gave a speech in which he said emphasized the importance of preserving environment.

He also highlighted the strong Egyption- British relations and friendship.

 

Earlier, Prince Charles of Wales and Duchess Camilla of Cornwall visited the Sphinx and Giza Pyramids during their visit to Egypt.

“A phenomenal moment at one of Egypt’s great sites of rich ancient history.” Prince Charles tweeted posting a photo for him and Duchess Camilla by the Pyramids.

 

They also visited Al Azhar Mosque in Old Cairo where they met Grand Imam Ahmed el Tayyeb.

The meeting tapped on harmony among teachings of different religions, and the role of religion in preserving the environment. They also discussed bolstering religious ties between Egypt and the UK.

 

The talks were attended by a number of Al Azhar officials and students, as well as by Prince Charles’s entourage.

Prince Charles and Duchess Camilla took photos at the mosque's central courtyard and in front of the mosque's cistern that was set up by Prince Taj al Din al-Shobaki.

This is the second visit by Prince Charles to the mosque as the first one took place in 2006.

Prince of Wales Charles and Duchess of Cornwall Camilla arrived in Cairo Thursday after concluding their visit to Jordan as they are holding a four-day tour in both countries.

The UK royalties' program includes meeting President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi and First Lady Intissar Amer al-Sisi as that is the first official visit to Egypt by Prince Charles in 15 years.
