EU lauds Egypt for addressing climate change issues

CAIRO - 4 November 2021: The European Union in Egypt on Wednesday called upon all countries to work together to protect the planet from climate change impact, praising Egypt's leadership in addressing this critical issue.
 
On November 1, 2021, Executive Director of the United Nations Human Settlements Program (UN‐Habitat) Maimunah Sharif has praised Egypt's efforts on mitigating the disasters and repercussions of climate change and reducing emissions.

Speaking at a celebration held in Luxor to mark the World Cities Day, she reiterated on Sunday that the organization of this event aims to develop cities to change them into better places by June 2022.
 
In May 2011, Egypt launched its National Strategy for Adaptation to Climate, but was not activated until a few months ago, when the national council for climate change was reshuffled and is now headed directly by the Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly.
 
On behalf of the African countries, Egypt has proposed to host the COP27 in 2022, said President Abdel Fattah El Sisi in his speech at the COP26 summit in Glasgow on Monday.
