CAIRO – 24 October 2021: The initiative to early detect anemia, obesity and dwarfism has been launched among primary school pupils, coinciding with the kickoff of the new school year 2021/2022.

Assistant to the minister of health, Khaled Mogahed, said the initiative will examine 15 million Egyptian and non-Egyptian students in the primary stage at 29,444 public and private schools, lasting until the end of the school year.

The students’ weight, height, and hemoglobin will be measured to detect diseases resulting from malnutrition and develop the proper mechanisms to improve their health.

Children suffering from such diseases will be transferred to health insurance clinics for further examinations and free treatments.

The students will be handed a follow-up card with their data to follow up on their condition periodically in 255 health insurance clinics across the country.
