BRUSSELS - 10 July 2017: The European Union (EU) has increased humanitarian assistance to Iraq to reach 211 million euros this year, Sky News reported.

High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Federica Mogherini said Iraqi Armed Forces have achieved a big victory against Daesh and fully liberated the embattled city of Mosul, a step that could weaken terrorism and threats leveled against Europeans.

The EU humanitarian aid will prioritize emergency assistance to civilians in active conflict areas, demining efforts and those most likely to receive people fleeing ongoing military operations. Aid will include crucial health care, essential shelter, food support, water, sanitation and hygiene items and protection where it is needed most.
