Pope of Vatican voices deepest appreciation to Egypt

CAIRO – 13 October 2021:  Pope Francis of the Vatican voiced his deepest appreciation for Egypt's government and people.

During the pontiff's meeting on Thursday with Egyptian Ambassador to the Vatican Mahmoud Samy on the occasion of ending his tour of duty, the Pope praised efforts of the Egyptian embassy over the past few years and the ambassador's keenness on consolidating mutual ties.

The Egyptian ambassador, for his part, voiced his appreciation for the pontiff and praised his strenuous efforts in delivering a message of peace to the world as well as spreading the concepts of brotherhood and equality among all peoples.

Last October, Al Azhar Grand Imam Ahmed El Tayyeb and The Vatican Pope Francis affirmed their keenness to continue their efforts to cement principles of dialogue and fraternity.

Their remarks came during the meeting “Faith and Science: Towards COP26”, which takes place in The Vatican, Al Azhar said in a statement.

Tayyeb and Francis discussed religious, humanitarian, and moral issues that the world faces nowadays and the role of scholars in reducing the intensity of war and division in addition to combating extremist thoughts.

They stressed that they are keen to continue the constructive dialogue and cooperation due to several challenge
