CAIRO – 13 October 2021: MP Rasha Abu Shakra of the Coordination's Committee of Parties' Youth Leaders and Politicians (CPYP) has been selected as the deputy head of the African Parliamentary Union’s women’s committee.

The women’s committee of the African Parliamentary Union held today elections for the new board for the next two years.

MP Rasha Abu Shakra of the CPYP ran for the post of the deputy head of the committee against an MP from Mali.

Abu Shakra won the vote by 80 percent against 20 percent for the Mali MP.

Rwanda won the post of the head of the committee and Burkina Faso won the post of the rapporteur by acclamation after the Niger candidate ceded to her the post.
