Egypt offers condolences to Tunisia over victims of helicopter crash

CAIRO – 6 October 2021: Egypt offered on Wednesday its sincere condolences to the Tunisian government and people over the victims of the military helicopter crash.

A military helicopter crashed in Gabes, in south-eastern Tunisia during a military exercise, killing three soldiers.

In a statement, the Foreign Ministry prayed to God Almighty to bestow mercy upon victims’ soul.

Tunisia’s National Defence Ministry said that a technical committee will investigate into the reasons behind the helicopter crash, that occurred in the El Hamma region, in the Gabes governorate.

According to Tunis Afrique Presse, an investigation has also been initiated by the military justice into the helicopter crash.

The Spokesman for the Defence Ministry on stated to that the helicopter had crashed during a night military drill.

He said that the three victimis of the crash were: Lieutenant Issam Arfaoui (pilot), Second Lieutenant Mehdi Derbali (co-pilot), and Warrant Officer Mohamed Ben Salah (aircraft mechanic).
