CAIRO – 24 September 2021: Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi inspected on Friday work for developing and expanding the eastern arch of the Ring Road and its subsidiary axes, Presidential Spokesman Bassam Radi said.

Sisi’s tour included the arch, starting from Gehan El-Sadat axis on Salah Salem Road and the area surrounding Al-Asmarat neighborhood, connecting it to the axes of the Martyr and Shinzo Abe.

The spokesman affirmed that the new roads accommodate tens of thousands of cars round the clock and have significantly contributed to easing traffic blockages.

They have also contributed to reducing the duration of time for traveling around Greater Cairo, the rate of car accidents and the fuel cost.

Sisi, during the tour, inspected development work at this sector of the Ring Road, including work to raise its efficiency and expand it to accommodate 8 lanes in each of the two directions, including entrances and exits.

The arch passes by Lieutenant General Mohamed El-Assar axis reaching the Shubra-Banha Freeway. It has ended traffic jams on the Cairo-Alexandria agricultural road, said the Presidency.

“The President was keen to stop during his inspection tour to discuss with the workers and supervisors on different sites details pertinent to current steps taken so far,” the Presidency said.

“The President stressed the importance of adhering to the timetable set for completing all work according to the standard technical criteria,” the Presidency affirmed.

“The President also emphasized the importance of the application of health and safety measures to protect the workers,” the Presidency added.
