CAIRO – 9 July 2017: Interior Minister Magdy Abdel Ghaffar said there are internal and foreign powers seeking to manipulate terrorism to destroy the state's mainstays and stability and, hence, hamper its march to realize people's aspirations.

Abdel Ghaffar made the remark during a meeting on Sunday with his aides and a number of security leaderships to review and assess security plans.

During the meeting, Abdel Ghaffar said preemptive attacks against terrorist organizations largely contribute to foiling many terrorist plots.

Egypt seeks to eradicate terror which is meant to cripple the successful policy aiming to develop national economy, he added.

He underlined the importance of intensifying security measures in all vital facilities, churches, monasteries as well as for VIPs.

He pledged to proceed with ongoing efforts to bust criminals and take all needed measures to curb criminals.

At the end of the meeting, he expressed condolences over the victims of the recent Rafah terrorist attack in which policemen and Armed Forces personnel were killed.
