Azhar ready to train French imams, says Tayyeb

CAIRO - 9 July 2017: Grand Imam of Al Azhar Dr Ahmed el Tayyeb said the prestigious religious institution in Egypt is ready to train French imams.

Tayyeb, in a meeting with French Ambassador in Cairo Stéphane Romatet, also discussed means of boosting cooperation between Al Azhar and Paris to better serve humanity and promote the values of co-existence and peace.

Al Azhar is open to communication with all cultures and civilizations with the aim to entrench peace and promote dialogue, Tayyeb stressed.

Romatet greatly appreciated efforts exerted by Tayyeb to promote the moderate teachings of Islam, as well as the concepts of tolerance and acceptance of the Other.
