CAIRO - 12 September 2020: Health advisor to the president Dr Awad Tageddin has stressed the need for citizens to abide by all precautionary measures against coronavirus.


His remarks come as Egypt is witnessing a surge in the number of infections due to the fourth wave of the pandemic.

It is important that citizens register for vaccination to be able to curb the spread of Covid-19 and increase immunity against severe complications, Tagedding said in statements to Extra News channel Sunday.

Previously infected citizens should also apply for the jabs, Tageddin advised, stressing that antibodies are not 100 percent protective against a second infection. The antibodies could only protect the body for a maximum of four months, he noted.

Egypt’s Health Minster Hala Zayed warned that Egypt might wittiness a hike in coronaviruses infections by the end of September and next October.

Zayed has also reaffirmed that the state currently works on increasing oxygen strategic stock and tanks and healthcare beds in this regard.

She reiterated that a protocol has been developed for the treatment of the coronavirus cases with the best treatment services to overcome the pandemic.
