CAIRO – 26 August 2021: With an aim to target a wider number of people, the Egyptian Dar Al-Iftaa (The House of Fatwas) launched this month an account on TikTok.

In a statement issued on August 17, the house confirmed that the account aims to publish the correct fatwas (Islamic decisions and concepts) in videos.

As yet, the account attracted more than 12,200 followers since it has been created on August 16.

“Social media platforms have a quite large impact, especially with the spread of smartphones, on the mentality and culture of people. It would not be a good idea to refrain from participating in these platforms,” Khaled Omran, the secretary of fatwa affairs at Egypt's Dar Al-Iftaa told El Masry Al-Youm newspaper on August 18.
