CAIRO – 19 August 2021: Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi discussed on Thursday with Peter Lürssen, the CEO of the German shipbuilding company Lürssen, the executive status of cooperation to develop the maritime industry in Egypt.

This came as Sisi received Lürssen in Cairo, in the presence of commander of the Egyptian navy Ahmed Khaled, head of the naval armaments department Mohamed Shalaby and Mohamed Al-Makhzangi from the naval forces command.

The meeting also discussed the cooperation in terms of the training and qualification programs for the technical human cadres to raise their capabilities in this regard, a statement by the Presidency’s spokesman Bassam Radi read.

This comes within the framework of the state’s strategy to localize the industry and transfer modern technology.

Sisi met in July with a delegation from Lürssen to examine ways of developing the Egyptian naval industries system and plans of technological upgrade in the sector.

The plans include introducing the most modern technology in shipbuilding and training engineers and technicians.

The meeting was attended by Peter Lürssen.
