Five different vaccines against COVID-19 are available in Egypt’s vaccination centers: Health Ministry

CAIRO – 16 August 2021: Egypt’s Ministry of Health announced, Monday, that five different vaccines are now available in nearly 539 vaccine centers around the country against coronavirus.

The Ministry explained that all of the five vaccines have emergency approvals from the Egyptian Medicines Authority.

The Health Ministry Spokesperson Khaled Megahed noted that the available vaccines are: Sputnik V, Sinopharm, AstraZeneca, Johnson& Johnson and Sinovac.

He called on all citizens to register online [http://www.egcovac.mohp.gov.eg] and get vaccinated against COVID-19.

 On Friday, Egypt received 1,766,400 doses of COVID-19 Vaccine “AstraZeneca” through COVAX, the AstraZeneca company said in a statement.

“We are pleased to move quickly to inoculate Egyptians with the support of the COVAX initiative. With this new batch of COVID-19 Vaccine AstraZeneca, we can better meet the ever-growing number of vaccine registrations that we are seeing across the country and move one step closer towards recovery,” Egyptian Health Minister Hala Zayed said.

The Health Ministry said, Sunday that 101 new coronavirus cases were detected, upping the total number of confirmed cases since the outbreak of the pandemic in the country to 285,358.

In a statement Sunday, Spokesman for the Health Ministry Khaled Megahed said four patients have died from the virus over the past 24 hours, raising the death toll to 16,619.

As many as 233 patients were discharged from isolation hospitals after receiving necessary medical care, taking the number of recovered cases to 234,114 so far, the spokesman said.
