'Your Right to Plan' campaign on contraception, pregnancy to kick off in 10 governorates

CAIRO – 14 August 2021: A campaign by the Health Ministry will kick off Sunday and last until Aug. 26 in 10 out of Egypt’s 27 governorates to provide family planning services.

The campaign is dubbed “your right to plan,” and is part of the ministry’s periodical health and family campaigns to achieve Egypt’s 2030 vision, according to a Saturday statement by the ministry.

Free contraception will be available in fixed and mobile health units, government-owned hospitals, and maternal and childcare centers.

The governorates included are Alexandria, Qalyubia, Dakahlia, Damietta, Fayoum, Beni Suef, Minya, Asyut, Qena, and Luxor.

Underprivileged villages in Haya Karima initiative will also be targeted in the campaign. The campaign will also organize exhibition for women’s handcraft projects to give them more experience and economically empower them. Such development of women will also enhance their decision-making capabilities, especially that of having children.

The campaign will be conducted in cooperation with the European Union and the United Nations Population Fund.
