CAIRO - 9 July 2017: Egypt’s Foreign Affairs Minister Sameh Shoukry met with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas on Saturday, and discussed developments in the Palestinian issue.

At the beginning of the meeting, Abbas said, “Palestine stands on the side of Egypt and its leadership under the chairmanship of President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi in its war against terrorism and against anyone who tries to harm the national security of Egypt.”

Regarding Egypt’s efforts on the Palestinian issue, Abbas expressed his appreciation for Cairo’s support of the Palestinian people and their issue at various international and regional forums.

The Palestinian president reviewed the latest developments in the Palestinian issue, the urgent and major situations on the Palestinian and Arab arenas, in addition to the political and diplomatic efforts to mobilizing international support for Palestine.

Abbas also briefed Shoukry on American efforts led by the US president to make peace between the Palestinians and Israelis, stressing that the two-state solution is the only and irreplaceable solution to solve the Palestinian issue and end the Israeli occupation of Palestinian land.

The Palestinian official arrived in Cairo on Saturday for an Egyptian-Palestinian summit with Egyptian leaders to follow up on the Palestine issue.
