CAIRO – 13 July 2021:  Egypt’s Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry is to receive, Wednesday Lebanese Prime Minister-designate Saad al-Hariri to hold talks at the Tahrir Palace in Cairo.

According to the Ministry, both officials are expected to discuss the latest political developments regarding the formation of the Lebanese government along with other issues of common interest.

In May, Shoukry phoned Hariri to review efforts exerted to form a new government to get Lebanon out of the critical economic situation.

During the call, Shoukry stressed Egypt's keenness to coordinate with Hariri and political leaderships there to avoid more problems in case that no technocratic government is formed.

The foreign minister tackled the regional developments with the Lebanese premier.

Shoukry visited Lebanon last April as he met several officials including Hariri, President Michel Aoun, Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri and Maronite Patriarch Mar Bechara Boutros al-Raie.

In remarks during his visit, Shoukry said that Egypt is keen on supporting Lebanon and its stability. He explained that his visit came at directives by President Abdel Fattah El Sisi to offer all support for Lebanon to get out of its crisis.
