CAIRO – 8 July 2021: Egypt has strongly condemned the assassination of President Jovenel Moïse of the Republic of Haiti on Wednesday.

In a Thursday statement by presidential spokesperson Bassam Rady, Egypt extended its sincere condolences to the government and the friendly Haitian people, calling for bringing the perpetrators to justice.

Egypt called on all parties in Haiti to show restraint and resume the political process to restabilize the country, ensuring the security of the Haitian people and the integrity of state institutions.

After the Haitian president’s murder, four men suspected of the crime were killed in a gun battle with the police.
