CAIRO – 24 June 2021: Egypt’s Supreme Council of Universities sent a letter to public universities in the country to discuss ways to activate the council’s decision to convert university paper books into e-books as of the next academic year 2021/2022.

This comes within the framework of the universities' orientation to achieve digital transformation at all levels in a way that contributes to providing scientific materials for students online.

Universities began to take serious steps towards the implementation of the decision through the formation of committees to ensure that the books will be available for students.

Dr. Hossam Rifai, Vice President of Helwan University for Education and Student Affairs, said that the university formed a committee to discuss the letter of the Supreme Council of Universities regarding converting the university books into an electronic ones, and offer more than one model such as Alexandria University, Mansoura and Ain Shams.

Dr. Hossam Rifai added that the university will work to adopt what is suitable for the parties of the educational system, noting that the application of the hybrid education system was a core of the transition to e-learning system and e-books.
