Egypt reports 498 new coronavirus cases, 37 fatalities Tuesday

CAIRO - 23 July 2020: The Health Ministry said that 498 new coronavirus cases were detected, upping the total number of confirmed cases since the outbreak of the pandemic in the country to 278,295.


In a statement, Spokesman for the Health Ministry Khaled Megahed said 37 patients have died from the virus over the past 24 hours, raising the death toll to 15,935.

As many as 799 patients were discharged from isolation hospitals after receiving necessary medical care, taking the number of recovered cases to 206,852 so far, the spokesman said. 

Egypt’s Ministry of Health targets vaccinating 40 percent of the population by the end of the current year, stated Head of Central Department of Health Affairs Mohamed Abdel Fattah.

There are more than 400 centers across the country to vaccinate citizens against Coronavirus, he said.

The recovery rate from the coronavirus (COVID-19) at Egyptian isolation hospitals has reached 74.1 percent, after the number of people recovering from the virus increased to 205613 cases, according to the Ministry of Health's statement

The Ministry of Health said that according to the recommendations of the World Health Organization issued on May 27, 2020, the disappearance of symptoms for 10 days after infection is an indication of the patient's recovery from the Corona virus.
