Egypt reports 509 new coronavirus cases, 39 fatalities in 24 hours

CAIRO - 22 June 2020: The Health Ministry said Monday night that 509 new coronavirus cases were detected, upping the total number of confirmed cases since the outbreak in the country began to 277,797.


In a statement, Spokesman for the Health Ministry Khaled Megahed said 39 patients have died from the virus over the past 24 hours, raising the death toll to 15,898.

As many as 440 patients were discharged from isolation hospitals after receiving necessary medical care, taking the number of recovered cases to 206,053 so far, the spokesman said.

The recovery rate from the coronavirus (COVID-19) at Egyptian isolation hospitals has reached 74.1 percent, after the number of people recovering from the virus increased to 205613 cases, according to the Ministry of Health's statement

The Ministry of Health and Population said that according to the recommendations of the World Health Organization issued on May 27, 2020, the disappearance of symptoms for 10 days after infection is an indication of the patient's recovery from the Corona virus.
