CAIRO – 21 June 2021: Egyptian Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, received Monday, Ajit Gupta, the Indian ambassador in Cairo, to discuss ways of cooperation between Egypt and India in the fields of higher education and scientific research.

 

At the beginning of the meeting, the minister stressed the importance of supporting scientific, research and technological cooperation with India, praising the distinguished relations between Egypt and India.

 

The minister further pointed to the importance that Egypt attaches to developing technical and technological education, and raising the level of its graduates in line with the requirements of the labor market.

 

Dr. Abdul Ghaffar discussed with the Indian side the activation of scholarship programs offered by India, with the aim of achieving the maximum benefit from it, in addition to exchanging experts between the two sides in the field of technology like offering training programs in new universities.

 

The meeting dealt with supporting aspects of partnership between the two sides in the fields of higher education and scientific research through cooperation in joint educational programs, exchange of students and faculty members.

 

For his part, the Indian ambassador stressed his country's keenness to strengthen its relations with Egypt in all fields, as he reviewed areas of cooperation between Egypt and India, including: master's and doctoral grants, student and faculty exchange programs, joint workshops, and joint research projects between the two countries.

 

The ambassador further cited both the “Study in Egypt” and “Study in India” initiatives as a source of cooperation between both countries, in addition to cooperation agreements between major universities in India and their Egyptian counterparts.
