CAIRO - 13 June 2020: The Health Ministry said Saturday night that 711 new coronavirus cases were detected, upping the total number of confirmed cases since the outbreak in the country began to 272,491.

In a statement, Spokesman for the Health Ministry Khaled Megahed said 35 patients have died from the virus over the past 24 hours, raising the death toll to 15,582.

As many as 433 patients were discharged from isolation hospitals after receiving necessary medical care, taking the number of recovered cases to 200,273 so far, the spokesman said.

Egypt has so far received millions of coronavirus vaccine doses and is planning to locally produce the first batch of the Chinese Sinovac vaccine this month.

As the country has started its vaccination campaign in January, more than 3.5 million citizens have been vaccinated, according to Health Ministry spokesman Khaled Megahed earlier this week.

Also, the ministry started vaccinating homebound citizens against coronavirus through sending medical teams to their houses.
