‘Women-Friendly City’ project to be inaugurated in Damietta: Governor

CAIRO – 12 June 2021: A project titled “Cities free from violence against women and girls” was inaugurated Saturday in Damietta city in coordination between Damietta governorate and the National Council for Women (NCW), said Governor of Damietta Dr. Manal Awad.

 

The inauguration ceremony, Saturday, was attended by NCW's head Maya Morsi.

 

Governor Manal Awad announced that the project was implemented in the vicinity of the Egypt’s Public Library in Ezbet el-Borj, and includes several facilities, kids area, reading area and gardens, where women and their children will be provided with different services without being subject to any kind of violence.

 

Awad explained that this project goes along the lines with the state’s vision to empower women through educating and training women on different crafts, in addition to creating a marketing space for their products, which guarantees economic empowerment for them.

 

Damietta governor further praised the implementation level of the project in accordance with high standards, in order to establish a comprehensive area dedicated to serve the women in the governorate.
