CAIRO - 9 Juny 2021: Egypt has expressed deep condemnation of a “terrorist” attack in Ontario as a man ran over a Canadian Muslim family by his truck, killing four of them and injuring one on Monday.

“Egypt extends its sincere condolences and sympathy to the relatives of the innocent victims and its wishes of a speedy recovery to the injured child,” the Egyptian Foreign Ministry said in a statement on Monday.

The statement affirmed Egypt’s support to Canada in the face of this “hateful terrorist incident” and reiterated the Egyptian stance rejecting all acts of terrorism, violence and extremism.

Egypt also rejects hate and racism crimes that contradict with the human values, the statement added.

The deaths in the tragic incident ranged from 15 years old to 74 years old. The sole survivor was a nine-year-old boy, who is suffering from serious injuries at the hospital.

The suspect, a 20-year-old man was arrested and now faces four counts of first-degree murder and one count of attempted murder.

Canada’s Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said called it a terrorist attack and a hate crime directed at Muslims.
