CAIRO – 27 May 2021: The parliamentary health committee recommended supporting the Ambulance Authority with an additional L.E.220 million in the 2021/2022 budget in a Wednesday meeting.

The recommendation is based on a request from the Ambulance Authority, whose head, Mohamed Gad, said the budget of 2020/2021 was L.E.3.4 billion, and the expected budget in 2021/2022 is L.E.3.5 billion.

Gad requested an increase of L.E. 220 million, as a development plan for the main centers with control rooms has kicked off. He added that the authority has purchased new ambulances.

Gad told the lawmakers that the additional money would support the sixth chapter of the law regulating the authority, and it deals with paid and unpaid leaves of the staff and their rights in the matter.
