CAIRO – 27 May 2021: President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi headed early on Thursday to Djibouti to hold a summit meeting with counterpart Ismail Omar Guelleh.

The visit is the first of its kind as no Egyptian chief of state has ever visited Djibouti. As indicated by Presidency Spokesperson Bassam Rady, talks will be on reinforcing bilateral cooperation, particularly on the economic, security, and military levels. That is in addition to holding consultations and exchanging views over key developments of regional issues of mutual interest.

On Wednesday, two Egyptian military jets carrying food and medical aid arrived in Djibouti to support the fellow African state in the face of COVID-19.
