Egypt sent medical supplies to 22 African countries since COVID-19 outbreak

CAIRO – 19 May 2021: Minister of Health and Population Hala Zayed said Egypt has sent medical supplies and medicines to 22 African countries since the outbreak of COVID-19 pandemic.

She said that the move came in accordance with the directives of the Egyptian political leadership.

Furthermore, she noted that tons of medical support were sent to Palestine, Lebanon, Libya, Iraq, China, Yemen and Italy.

Minister Hala Zayed also explained that Egypt has put a plan to receive the injured Palestinians through the Rafah land Crossing, and treat them at equipped Egyptian hospitals.

“The injured Palestinian citizens are receiving the best medical service by trained doctors,” She added.

The Health ministry explained that the medical aid shipment includes surgical supplies for burns and plastic surgery in addition to operating supplies for internal and emergency departments, radiology and fracture supplies, in addition to oxygen holders, cylinders, ventilators, anesthesia devices, and oxygen cylinders and syringes.

Regarding COVID vaccines, Minister Zayed said that Egypt is expected to receive 500 thousand doses of the Chinese "Synopharma" vaccine during the next few days, so that the total amount received of this vaccine will be 2,580,400 doses.
