CAIRO - 10 May 2020: The Indian Embassy in Cairo, on behalf of the Indian health ministry, signed on Monday an agreement to purchase 300,000 doses of Remdesivir from Egypt's Eva Pharma Pharmaceuticals Company.

Indian Ambassador to Egypt Ajit Gupte signed for his country, while CEO of Eva Pharma Riyadh Armanious signed for Egypt.

In a statement, the Indian ambassador said that the purchase of such drug will help India in its fight against coronavirus. He added the vaccine is to be shipped to India within the coming few days.

Armanious announced that the drug has achieved great success in countries from different continents of the world, after it was exported to a large number of countries, where Eva Pharma has the right to provide the drug to 127 countries around the world, including Egypt.

Gupte thanked President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly for directing all the responsible authorities in the Egyptian state to cooperate with India in facing its "painful injury," according to which quantities of medical oxygen had been sent to India.
