CAIRO - 6 July 2017: The United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) representative in Egypt Alexander Pedroza affirmed the fund's financial and technical support for Cairo's efforts to implement its national housing strategy.

The official's remarks were made during his meeting Thursday with Prime Minister Sherif Ismail in the presence of Planning Minister Hala el Saeed.

During the meeting, the premier said the government attaches great importance to the population issue, particularly with regard to controlling the population growth rate.

The government's efforts in this regard come in line with its endeavors to implement the ambitious reform program, Ismail said, urging the formation of a work group to coordinate efforts of the government and the UNFPA.
