Agriculture ministry seeks to increase cultivation of yellow corn

CAIRO - 5 July 2017: Minister of Agriculture and Land Reclamation Abdel Mon'em el Banna said Wednesday that he reviewed expanding the cultivation of yellow corn during his meeting with Prime Minister Sherif Ismail.

Speaking at a press conference at the Ministry of Investment's headquarters, the minister noted that the ministry targets increasing the cultivated area of yellow corn to 1.25 million feddans, as about 350,000 feddans will be cultivated in Upper Egypt.

In this regard, Banna added that the ministry seeks to reduce grain imports and achieve the strategic development plan to reduce the cultivated area of rice and increase that of yellow corn instead
