CAIRO – 18 April 2021: Minister of Health and Population Hala Zayed stated Sunday that 8.4 million school children have been screened for obesity, anemia, and dwarfism since November 2020.

 

The screening took place in 29,444 primary schools by 1,800 medical teams. Each team consists of a doctor, a nurse, and a lab technician. It is noted that follow-up for children suffering of any of those diseases is carried out in 255 healthcare units located across the country.

 

The top three governorates in terms of number of children screened are Sharqia with 850,397, Daqahliyah with 712,934, and Giza with 675,000.
