CAIRO – 18 April 2021:  An Egyptian young man is wanted by the police and the Egyptian railway authority for endangering his life after he lied beneath a moving train.

A video became a meme on social media, showing a young man lied beneath a moving train and then was celebrating this “adventure” with his friends.

Egyptian Minister of Transportation Kamel El Wazir stated in media remarks to “On My Responsibility” talk show that the young man is wanted to be interrogated.

The minister added that some individual irregularities by some youths could cause catastrophes, giving another example of two young people jumped from a pedestrian bridge on the top of the train.

He clarified that the authority has monitored such irregularities since the collision of the two trains in Sohag (Upper Egypt) that resulted in the death of 20 people and the injury of 199 others.

Egypt’s Public Prosecution revealed that drivers and co-drivers of the two trains that collided on March 26, 2021, are responsible for the accident.

The investigations showed that the two trains’ drivers, assistants, and signaling tower employees are involved in the accident, which resulted in financial casualties estimated at more than LE 25.8 million.
