Suez Canal chief: 321 awaiting vessels so far; no exact time for refloating EVER GIVEN

CAIRO – 9 APRIL 2021: Egypt’s newly-built dredger “Mohab Mamish”, the largest dredger in the Middle East, is expected to arrive at the Port Said on board the heavy load carrier “XIANG RUI KOU” on Friday evening, said Egypt’s Suez Canal Authority Chief Admiral Osama Rabie in a statement on Friday.
 
The dredger will pass through the canal on Saturday, along with the north convoy [a group of ships that are bound from the Mediterranean Sea to the Red Sea], coming from the port of Rotterdam, the Netherlands to be berthed in E1 area in the Great Bitter Lakes in Ismailia,
 
At the Great Bitter Lakes, the dredger will be separated from the “XIANG RUI KOU to be floated in the canal, Rabie continued.
 
The operation of separating the dredger from the ship will be carried out under the supervision of the Suez Canal authority and in full coordination with the ship's crew and experts from the Dutch Royal IHC Shipyard, Admiral Rabie said, adding that the Suez Canal Authority’s tugboats will tow the dredger in the canal.
 
Mohab Mamish is 147.4 meters in length and 23 meters in width, he said, adding that it can dredge to the depth of 35 meters, with a capacity of 29,190 kilowatts.
