Cairo Appellate Court issues ruling in 'illegal funding to NGOs and civil society'

CAIRO – 30 March 2021: Justice Ali Mokhtar announced Tuesday the outcome of investigation conducted in lawsuit no. 173/2011 publicly known as "illegal funding to NGOs and civil society."

 

Mokhtar is the chief of Cairo Appellate Court and the judge in charge of ruling in the retrial.

 

The justice noted that the first ruling issued on December 5 cleared six NGOs, and did not convict 14 others because the evidence is not sufficient.

 

The verdict of the Appellate Court cleared five NGOs, and did not convict 15 others because the evidence is not sufficient.

 

The innocent NGOs are:

Catholic Relief Services

Gamaet Ansar Al Sunna Al Mohamadeya

Transparency International

Caritas Egypt

 

The non-guilty NGO are:
