CAIRO – 27 March 2021: Egypt’s Top Prosecutor Hamada el-Sawi ordered an urgent probe into the collapse of a residential multi-storey building in Gisr el-Suez St., in Heliopolis.

 

The Central Operation Room in Cairo governorate received a notification at 3 am on Saturday reporting the collapse of a building  near Omar Ibn el-Khattab metro station in Gisr el-Suez Street.

Cairo Governor Khaled Abdel el-Aal, along with Civil Protection Forces, Ambulance, and security officials headed to the accident site to follow up on operations to rescue people trapped under the rubble.

Cairo Governor announced that 18 people among the injured in the collapse exited the hospital, while 16 others are still receiving treatment.

 

Governor Abdel Aal ordered forming an engineering committee to inspect adjacent buildings.
