CAIRO - 3 April 2017: U.S. President Donald Trump will receive his Egyptian counterpart Abdel Fatah al-Sisi in the White House at 11:50 a.m. local time (5:50 p.m. Cairo time), White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer

posted on Twitter

early Monday.

A press briefing will follow the two leaders’ meeting at the White House at 2:30 p.m. Washington time, 8:30 p.m. Cairo time, Spicer added.

Sisi is in Washington upon an invitation from Trump for a five-day trip during which both sides will discuss Egyptian-U.S. economic ties and international and regional issues of mutual concern. Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry

told Egyptian state TV

Sunday via phone that Sisi’s visit focuses on economic ties.

Sisi arrived in New York City on Saturday. He

met Sunday

with Jeff Immelt, chairman of the board and CEO of the U.S.-based General Electric in Washington, followed by a meeting with Marillyn Hewson, chairwoman of Lockheed Martin.

Sisi

also met

with Jim Yong Kim, president of the World Bank, on Sunday. Sisi and Trump’s

political priorities

are the issue of the Muslim Brotherhood, U.S. financial aid and possibly the case of imprisoned Egyptian-American Aya Hegazi, according to a Friday press briefing by an unnamed senior Trump administration official.

Sisi’s visit to Washington marks the first state visit by an Egyptian president to Washington since former President Hosni Mubarak’s visit in August 2009.
