CAIRO – 25 April 2024: A total of 476 prisoners were pardoned as per a presidential decree on the occasion of the Sinai Liberation Day, which marks April 25.

Anyone who did not shed blood or participated in acts of violence and terrorism would be released, and those who served the time of pre-trial detention must be released immediately or referred to a trial.

In April, Egypt’s President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi reactivated the ‘Presidential Pardon Committee’ which was formed as one of the outcomes of the National Youth conference, as it will expand its cooperation with the competent agencies and civil society.

On April 25 of every year, Egypt celebrates Sinai Liberation Day, when the last Israeli soldier was expelled, and the Egyptian flag was raised on the turquoise land [Sinai] on April 25, 1982.
