CAIRO - 20 July 2017: ABC News and Washington Post conducted a national poll suggesting that 67 percent of Americans disapprove of Trump's use of Twitter.

“Inappropriate”, “insulting” and “dangerous” were the common negative descriptions that 67 percent of Americans used to express their opinions of Trump’s behavior on the Twitter platform. On the other hand 41 percent of his supporters find Trump’s tweets “refreshing”.

Politicians are schooled in how to deliver their message, draw attention to what they have to say, and be ever-prominent in listeners’ or readers’ minds. Politicians worldwide are quite cautious when it comes to social media means of communication; the less they talk or comment, the wiser they sound.

“My use of social media is not Presidential. It’s MODERN DAY PRESIDENTIAL, make America great again,” Trump proudly tweeted on his account.

Conversely, being Donald Trump’s favorite means of expression and communication with the public, Twitter is used in a contentious way. It is rather his tool to open fire against his opponents.

Trump spent his Sunday morning criticizing and attacking his former electoral rival Hilary Clinton, the news media, and the investigations being conducted that could link his presidential campaign to Russia.

“Hillary Clinton can illegally get the questions to the Debate & delete 33,000 emails but my son Don is being scorned by the Fake News media?" Trump tweeted around 7 a.m. on Sunday.

Given his history of refusing all negative polls, and irrespective of whether they are credible or not, results of such polls are not likely to change Trump’s attitude. It rather underlines the difference between Trump and his predecessors.
