CAIRO - 26 January 2019: EgyptAir started operating its first internal flight on Friday from the newly inaugurated Sphinx International Airport.

It is is scheduled to operate about 15 flights a week to serve the internal movement during the half-year vacation in Egypt. Flights are set to head from Sphinx Airport to Luxor, Aswan, Sharm El-Sheikh, Hurghada and vice versa.

“Flights are fully booked, particularly the flights going to Luxor and Aswan due to their wonderful weather in winter,” an official at the airport told Egypt Today.

“The Sphinx International Airport offers low price flight tickets in comparison to the Cairo International Airport,” he added.

The Sphinx airport is located near the Cairo-Alexandria desert road, serving near regions such as Giza, Al Haram and 6 October City, Faiyum and Beni Suef.

Being located near touristic places like the Pyramids of Giza and the under-construction Grand Egyptian Museum, the airport will grasp people’s attraction towards one-day tours.
