Zamalek suffer a late defeat to Arab Contractors

CAIRO-28 August 2020: 9-men Arab Contractors defeated Zamalek 2_1 in the Egyptian league on Thursday night. This is a 6-point victory for Arab Contractors against one of the main contenders for the second place, Zamalek. 
 
Arab Contractors, led by Emad El Nahas, opened the score by their Colombian striker Luis Edward who received a wonderful pass that put him one vs one against Zamalek goalkeeper Mohamed Abo Gabal. 
 
Edward dribbled Zamalek's goalkeeper and put the goal in the back of the net to give his team the lead in the game. 
 
Minutes before half time, the referee send off Arab Contractors' defender Fady Nagah who tackled Zamalek striker Achraf Bencharki. 
 
Bencharki equalized for Zamalek 15 minutes before the final whistle as Arab Contractors' defence failed to clear the ball from the dangerous area and it fell to the Moroccan winger who scored the equalizer for the White Knights. 
 
Arab Contractors regained the lead minutes before the final whistle through a counter attack, led by Mohamed Salem and was finished by Mohamed Essam who put the ball in the empty net. 
 
Essam got sent off before the final whistle after receiving the second yellow card and the team was down to 9 men. 
 
Arab Contractors achieved their first victory over Zamalek in the league since April 2002. 
 
Arab Contractors reached 40 points and they are in the fourth position, with two points behind Zamalek and Pyramids.
