CAIRO - 24 June 2017: Southampton announced this Friday that Mauricio Pellegrino will be the new head coach of the club for the next three years, Pellegrino will return to England after having previously working as an assistant manager for Liverpool under former coach, Rafael Benitez.

Pellegrino, former Argentina player, talked about his feelings after returning to England, he said “I think my philosophy and the culture of the club will work well together. We have to be a team on and off the pitch” according to Southampton.com.

He talked about his ambition with Southampton, he told the club's website “ I want to make the supporters proud of the players and to feel part of the game every week. I want to win matches, be successful and develop a team spirit where everyone gives 100 percent and supports each other.”

Pelligrino , 45 years old , started his managerial career with Valencia in 2012 and then returned to Argentina to coach Estudiantes and Independiente before he retrned to Spain to coach Deportivo Alaves and led them to the Spanish Cup final before eventually losing 3-1 to Barcelona.
